THE PERSON BEHIND REEL THERAPY
Meet Captain Dan Lemon
A lifetime of fishing, more than 20 years as a licensed captain and guide, and a passion for sharing Lake Erie with others.
Fishing has always been part of my life.
My love of fishing began at a young age, thanks in large part to my father. When I was just 12 years old, I purchased my first boat with money I earned delivering newspapers on my paper route. I’ve always said, “I’d fish in a mud puddle if I thought there was a fish in it.” That passion for fishing has never faded.
Today, I’m the proud owner and captain of Reel Therapy Sportfishing, sharing my love of western Lake Erie with guests in pursuit of walleye and yellow perch. With more than 20 years of experience as a licensed captain and fishing guide, I still get just as much enjoyment from watching someone catch their first fish as I do from catching one myself.
The story behind Reel Therapy
My wife, Michelle, is a physical therapist, which helped inspire the name Reel Therapy. We’ve been married for more than 21 years and have two children, Claire and Hunter. Family is important to me, and I know that for many guests, a fishing trip is about spending meaningful time together.
Whether you’re an experienced angler or new to fishing, my goal is to make your day enjoyable, comfortable, and memorable. A successful charter isn't measured only by how many fish go in the cooler.
Experience, qualifications & community
I hold a 50-Ton U.S. Coast Guard Master’s License and an Ohio fishing guide license, and Reel Therapy Sportfishing is fully insured. My additional training and certifications include Erie PrOH certification, First Aid/CPR, and open-water scuba diving.
I’m proud to serve on the board of the West Sister Charter Boat Association and am also a member of the Lake Erie Charter Boat Association. Outside of my charter business, I volunteer with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, helping promote boating awareness and safety on Lake Erie and its tributaries.
